Online Supervision

Integrative Supervision focusing both on your work and on yourself as practitioner or leader

Supervision is a reflective and supportive space for you to examine your work as a practitioner or as a leader. In a non-judgemental and nurturing space we will look at issues that are arising with different people you’re working with, how you can take care of yourself more in relation to your work, how you can develop yourself more professionally and how to ensure that you’re working in an ethical manner.

I offer both individual and group supervision. I work in an integrative way, drawing upon different modalities, including Cognitive-Behavioural, Psychodynamic, Relational, Humanistic, EMDR and Body therapy. There is a strong focus on your own process as a practitioner, given that you’re the primary tool in your work.

I’ve worked with various areas of mental health and psychological development in my own professional experience and I hold specialisations in working with trauma and with sexuality.

Training and experience in supervision

On top of other professional qualifications, I hold a Master’s degree specifically in supervisory practice with the University of Middlesex, London (UK). I also completed an ICF-accredited course in integrative coaching.

Prior to setting up my private practice, I was the Senior Counsellor at London Fire Brigade where I was co-managing and supervising a team of psychotherapists offering general counselling and trauma treatment to the whole fire brigade. I was also a supervisor and tutor on a Master’s degree in Advanced Clinical Practice offered by the Minster Centre, London. In addition, I have also been supervising practitioners as part of my private practice.

Given the different supervisory requirements by different professional associations, should you need to count supervision hours for your profession, please check with your professional body.

What others have said

Michael’s encouraging, empathic and empowering approach to our supervision helped me to stay grounded whilst working with something new, but it also challenged me to trust and stay in touch with my own intuitions. I found Michael’s integrative approach and vast knowledge of different theoretical orientations very encompassing. I felt that he respected my way of working within the modalities I was familiar with, whilst he also gave me the confidence to work with approaches I was less so. Moreover, I found Michael’s insights into my wellbeing and issues around transference hugely beneficial for steering my work, where needed – always delivered in a way which I found compassionate and containing.

My experience of Michael is that he has an impressive breadth and depth of knowledge in terms of counselling modalities and techniques which he can draw on to offer a valuable and holding experience to clients. As a supervisor Michael has been perceptive and supportive in all our meetings.  Most helpfully, for me, has been how Michael creates and allows a space into which more unconscious processes in the counselling can emerge and take shape. I have found this such a valuable learning experience which enhances the subsequent work with clients.

Michael’s depth of understanding which supports and informs his managerial, client and supervisory work provides a place from which his clients can experience emotional safety and his colleagues can feel respected.
